Unitarian Ecofeminist Chant
My body is earth.
My body is the earth.
The earth is my body.
The earth is my bones.
Alkaline earth is my bones.
My blood is water.
The rivers are my blood,
the blood of the earth.
We dam up its arteries
and pour waste in its veins
and the earth has no kidneys, you know.
My breath is air.
The trees are the earth's lungs.
We chop them down for toilet paper
and books to burn
and wonder why so many people have asthma.
My spirit is fire.
Light of truth,
warmth of community,
fire of commitment,
flames of passion.
Earth my body,
water my blood,
air my breath,
fire my spirit.
Respect for the interdependent
web of all existence
of which we are a part.
We are the earth
and we depend on the earth
and she is us
and she is counting on us.
