Justice

They call me blind, blindfolded,
and I worry that it's true.
Do I hear each voice that calls
you to me and me to you?
Or do I only hear the loudest,
whitest, straightest, richest men?
I want to be as I am named,
not aiding powerful again.
I should take off the blindfold.
I should look and try to see
why marginalized people
think I'm not real, not me.
I hope, as Dr. King once said,
and I dream as once did he,
that I am not bankrupt,
not blind. But can I see?
