a starfish named @MelodyHensley

here is a question:
why?

there are so many starfish
stranded
on this beach.
you will never
make a difference.

here is a question:
how?

here is a starfish:
@MelodyHensley
here is her beach:
it is a frightening place
not for those already traumatized.

there are so many starfish
stranded
on this beach.
you will never
make a difference,
not alone,
not without lifetimes.

here is a question:
who?

that is too little,
let me sum up.
who does it threaten
to admit
sticks and stones
may break my bones
but words will always hurt me?
who does it threaten
to admit
being bombarded
with hateful words
feels like
being bombarded
with enemy bullets?

there are so many starfish
stranded
on this beach.
you will never
make a difference,
not alone,
not without lifetimes
in instants,
returning
a thousand thousand starfish
to safe refreshing sea
in the space
of heartbeats.

here is a question:
why?
here is a question:
how?
here is a starfish.

here is a starfish.

can we make a difference
for this starfish?

here is a question:
why not?

I want to drown out the shitstorm Melody Hensley is facing. I think the best way to do that is for all of us, and as many other people as we can convince to help, to tweet "I support @MelodyHensley".
